The program is provided by our Nutrition Services Department and funded through the USDA Department of Agriculture Farm Bill. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program provides funding to participating schools so they can provide a variety of free fresh fruits and vegetables to children throughout the school day. It is an effective and creative way to introduce fresh fruits and vegetables as healthy snack options.
The goals of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) are to:
- Create healthier school environments by providing healthier food choices.
- Expand the variety of fruits and vegetables children experience.
- Increase children’s fruit and vegetable consumption.
- Make a difference in children’s diets to impact their present and future health.
Participating Elementary Sites:
