2022-2023 GATE Testing Notice
GATE Request to Test
A Request for Pupil Assessment for the Gifted and Talented (GATE) Program is MOST APPROPRIATE for those students who do not have GATE test results on file, have not tested within the last 12 months, or who are new to the Merced City School District. Grades 1-3 will be tested in January and February unless parents opt out. Other grades that are eligible are grades 4-7.
Please complete this form and submit no later than January 31, 2023.
Our team will review the request and plan for assessment.

OPT OUT of GATE Testing (only applies to 1-3 grade students)
Parents have the option to OPT OUT of GATE Testing, by submitting the OPT OUT form. Otherwise, the Merced City School District will provide universal screening for all students in grades 1-3 because our GATE program serves students in grades 2-8. In future years, MCSD will provide universal screening in first grade.
If you DO NOT want your child to participate in GATE Testing, please complete this form and submit no later than January 31, 2023.
