Field Trips

7th grade Day 1 and Day 2 at the STEAM Center

7th graders will visit the STEAM Center between August and October. The title of the project that student will work on is Biomimicry Gimmickry. At STEAM Center, students will design a product that meets two criteria: it must solve a problem and have a biomimicry component. They will build prototypes of their product following the engineering design process, and then present their ideas to their peers with the goal of securing investors. The top three invested products will present to the whole group Shark Tank style.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5th grade visit Day 1 and Day 2 at the STEAM Center

5th grade students will visit the STEAM Center between October and December. Students will investigate why there are restrictions on water use in Merced and explore ways to alleviate the problem. Three chaperones per class are requested.

 

 

 

3rd grade Day 1 and day 2 at the STEAM Center

3rd grade students will visit the STEAM Center between January and March. Students will explore how traits are influenced by the environment, and how some organisms survive better than others. Three chaperones per class are requested.

 

 

1st grade Day 1 and Day 2 at the STEAM Center

1st grade students will visit STEAM Center between March and May. Students will be able to describe that light is carried through matter in waves, and light travels in straight lines.
