The California Family Rights Act (CFRA) allows for up to twelve (12) weeks of baby bonding leave, which can be used within one (1) year from the date of birth. Baby bonding leave can be taken in increments of at least two weeks at a time. Income Protection cannot be used for baby bonding time; however, your accrued leave hours will be coordinated with your time off to offset your pay. Once you exhaust all of your sick leave, you will be paid at the differential rate.
If you would like to request Baby Bonding leave, please email Raquel Cervantes at rcervantes@mcsd.k12.ca.us. Your request must be documented in writing and include your beginning and end date. Baby bonding leave can be used a maximum of once (1) per fiscal year. Stay tuned for a Baby Bonding Request form option.
